2. T explains that express need or desire, e.g., need, want, hope, and wish. Wish is most commonly used in hypothetical (or imagined) situations, in greeting and expressions of goodwill: It's also used to talk about situations that we desire, but which are the opposite of the current reality or which are impossible: • We wish you a merry Christmas. • Wish me luck on my exam. • I wish I had studied harder. (In reality, I didn’t study hard, and now I regret it). Hopecan also be used in expressions of goodwill, but it’s used to talk about possible situations that we desire in the past, present or future. The important thing to note is that these situations are possible: • I hope you can come on Saturday. T writes on the board some examples using the verbs need, want, hope andwish. T has Ss tell sentences that express good wishes and positive thoughts. Ss write ten examples for every verb. 3. T allows Ss to read the information about “wish” and “hope” in the “Action through Words” site. The link is in the “recursos” section. When they have finish, Ss solve the exercise.

Ss elaborate a draft for the design and the message on their notebooks in order to make sure there are not letter omissions or incorrect word order in the structures. T reminds Ss about the layout of a card: The date and the name of the person they are addressing to at the top of it, the body with the message, the closing and the signature. A card has also an illustration, generally on the front page –but not always-. T has Ss exchange notebooks for peer correction. Ss can use different materials to create their cards, e.g., cardboard, colored paper, colored pencils, markers, watercolors, acrylic paints, glue, ruler and scissors. Ss illustrate and write the final version of their best wishes card. T has Ss read their best wishes cards aloud.

Cierre 00:10 3. T has Ss work in pairs and take turns reading their cards to each other. T asks Ss to give their card to the intender.

2. T explains that verbs express actions. Verbs are "doing" words. A verb can express: • A physical action (e.g., to swim, to write, to climb). • A mental action (e.g., to think, to guess, to consider). • A state of being (e.g., to be, to exist, to appear). There are other types of words like names, adjectives, articles, etc. T writes on the board a list of verbs like hope, need, require, wish and want, etcetera. Ss give other examples of verbs and write them on the board. They write simple sentences for each verb. T has some Ss reading their sentences. 3. Organized in pairs, in the media classroom, T allows Ss to play "Battle of action words" game. The link is in the "recursos" section. Periodically, it's important that Ss of each pair switch roles in front of the computer.
