Title: Exploring the Solar Eclipse through Artistic Expressions


Grade Level: Preschool 1st (Preescolar 1º)


Objective: Students will produce creative expressions to represent their immediate world, personal and family experiences, the nature surrounding them, or creations of their imagination, using different resources from the arts.


Methodology: Community Project


Interdisciplinary Problem: Understanding the Solar Eclipse


Session 1:
Duration: 45 minutes


Objective: Introduce the concept of the solar eclipse and its significance.



  1. Warm-up (10 minutes):



    • Gather students in a circle and ask if they have ever heard of an eclipse.

    • Show them pictures or illustrations of a solar eclipse and encourage them to describe what they see.

    • Engage students in a short discussion about the solar eclipse, asking questions such as "What do you think causes a solar eclipse?" and "Why is it important to learn about it?"



  2. Introduction to Artistic Expressions (15 minutes):



    • Explain to students that we can use art to represent and understand the world around us.

    • Show them different examples of artistic expressions, such as paintings, sculptures, and music.

    • Discuss how different art forms can convey different emotions and messages.



  3. Art Activity - Creating Eclipse Art (20 minutes):



    • Provide students with art materials such as colored paper, markers, and glue.

    • Guide them in creating their own representation of a solar eclipse using the art materials.

    • Encourage them to use their imagination and creativity in their artwork.
