Title: Exploring Regularities and Patterns through Algebraic Representations
Grade Level: 2nd year of Secondary School
Subject: Mathematics
Objective (PDA): To represent algebraically a sequence with quadratic progression of figures and numbers.
Methodology: Inquiry-based learning
Interdisciplinary Approach: Integrating problem-solving skills in mathematics without the use of a calculator.
Duration: 5 sessions of 50 minutes each
Session 1:
Phase 1: Introduction
- Begin the class by discussing real-life examples of patterns and regularities.
- Engage students in a discussion about the importance of recognizing patterns in mathematics.
- Introduce the concept of quadratic progression and its representation using figures and numbers.
- Share examples of quadratic sequences and their relevance in different fields.
Phase 2: Development
- Distribute worksheets with quadratic sequences.
- Ask students to work individually or in pairs to identify the pattern and fill in the missing elements in the sequence.
- Encourage students to discuss their findings with their peers and justify their solutions.
Phase 3: Closure
- Reflect on the importance of recognizing patterns and regularities in mathematics.
- Discuss the different strategies used by students to identify the patterns.
- Summarize the main concepts learned in the session.
Session 2:
Phase 1: Introduction
- Review the concept of quadratic progression and its representation using figures and numbers.
- Engage students in a brief discussion about the real-life applications of quadratic sequences.
Phase 2: Development
- Provide students with a set of figures and ask them to identify the quadratic progression.
- Ask st
