Plan de clase

Session 1: Preparing for the Debate (45 minutes)

Objective: Students will be able to identify the function of causal, temporal, and logical connectors in argumentative texts.

  1. Warm-up (5 minutes)

    • Start the class with a quick discussion about the importance of expressing and communicating ideas effectively.

    • Ask students to share examples of situations where clear communication is crucial.

  2. Introduction to Connectives (15 minutes)

    • Present a brief explanation of causal, temporal, and logical connectors, using visual aids or examples.

    • Provide students with a handout or display a list of common connectors for reference.

  3. Analyzing Argumentative Texts (15 minutes)

    • Give students a short argumentative text to read individually.

    • In pairs or small groups, ask them to identify and underline the causal, temporal, and logical connectors used in the text.

  4. Class Discussion (10 minutes)

    • Engage students in a class discussion to share their findings.

    • Encourage critical thinking by asking questions such as:

      • How do the connectors contribute to the overall argument of the text?

      • Can you think of alternative connectors that could have been used?

Session 2: Researching and Preparing Arguments (45 minutes)

Objective: Students will be able to research and prepare arguments for a debate on a common interest topic.

  1. Review Connectives (5 minutes)

    • Begin the session with a quick review of the causal, temporal, and logical connectors discussed in the previous session.

  2. Topic Selection (10 minutes)

    • Facilitate a brainstorming session to help students choose a common interest topic for the debate.

    • Encourage them to
