A template for students to practice writing personal letters
Sugerencia de uso
1. Download the file and make copies for students.
2. Ask students what kind of information they can share with a good friend in a letter.
3. Distribute the worksheet and review the 5 parts of a letter, then, tell students they are going to write a letter to a friend who lives on Mars (!). Your friend, whose name they have to invent, couldn’t attend your birthday party so you are writing him/her a letter telling him/her what you did and what happened.
4. Monitor the activity and offer help as needed. Encourage students to be as creative as possible.
5. Set a time limit and recommend you, students, to pay close attention to the verbs in the past tense.
6. Invite students to sit in groups of three and read their letters to their classmates.
7. Invite some volunteers to read their letters to the class and make corrections ad suggestions as needed.
8. Get the students’ letters to correct at home and bring them the next class for them to see what they need to work on.
