Sugerencia de uso

1. Show the trailers of the motion picture The Hobbit. An unexpected journey, based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien.

2. Ask the students:

• From what you understand from the trailers, what is the story about?

• What kind of characters appear in the trailer?

• What is the adventure Bilbo Baggins is about to live?

• What is the meaning of burglar?

• What do you think about the story? Do you like it?

• Which elements make this story a fantastic story?

3. Look for the unknown words in the dictionary and see the videos again to understand them better.

4. Give the students the link to the text of the book, and if this is possible, download it and keep the archive to read the complete text during this project.

5. Read the three first paragraphs of Chapter I, An unexpected party, in page 7. This is the description of the hobbit home and context. Look for the unknown words in the dictionary.

6. Answer the following by pairs:

• Is a hobbit hole comfortable or not?

• How is the door of the Bilbo Baggins hobbit-hole?

• How is the interior of the hobbit-hole?

• What is the name of the neighborhood where Bilbo Baggins lives?

• How do people considered the Baggins to be?

• Why the left-handed rooms are better than the others are?

• Is there any stairs in a hobbit-hole?
