1. Have the beam projector ready to show students the videos suggested in the “Materiales Educativos Digitales”

2. Ask students to think of an emergency (earthquake, flood, volcano eruption, etc) and give you three instructions to follow.

3. Write them on the board and underline the verbs.

4. Tell students they are going to watch a video about Imperatives and ask them to take notes and copy the examples given by this teacher.

5. Play the video and make some pauses where you consider necessary in order to discuss some information with students or to ask them to give you original examples.

8. Tell students they are going to watch a video about where they should really go to stay safe during an earthquake.

9. Tell students the video doesn’t have sound or narration but text presented on the video  so they have to copy the most important  information to make a list of 3 to 5 safety tips during an earthquake.

6. Monitor and offer help with grammar as needed.

11. Finally, ask pairs of students to exchange their tips with another pair and check if the share the same information or there’s some more they could include in their lists.

1. Have the beam projector ready to show students the posters suggested on the “Materiales Educativos Digitales”

2. Tell students you are going to say a word (related to natural disasters) and they will say as many words as they can  to go with it, i.e., “volcano eruptions”, lava, erupted, fire, etc.

3. Ask students how many other natural disasters they remember.

4. Dictate the vocabulary at the end of the poster which corresponds to the different sections or show it and ask them to copy it.

6. Ask students to look at the different natural disasters  to learn how they happen, where they happen and what you should do to avoid them or to be safe in the worst case.

11. Tell students to read the 7 tips on the poster and offer help with vocabulary as needed.

12. Ask students to complement the tips by writing another sentence in each tip. That is, if the sentence is in affirmative, “Press the nearest fire alarm button.” They should write something like, “ Don’t try to put out the fire yourself”

Evalúa Two important recommendations when writing instructions, you should consider are, a) Use short sentences and short paragraphs and using the imperative mood. b) Say one thing in each sentence and include a picture. c) Use graphics and use the imperative mood. d) Arrange your points in logical order and include statistics.

2. Make copies of the grammar worksheet.

3. Ask students to think of a natural disaster such as a flood and think of two DON’Ts in giving instructions.
