1. Have the beam project ready to show the video and the article suggested  in  the “Materiales Educativos Digitales” .

 2. Ask students if they know anybody who has been bulled and what they think about it.

3. Tell students if they have seen any anti-bullying campaigns and where. If they say no, ask students to think what a good anti-bullying campaign should include to be effective.

4. Ask students what a PSA means: public service announcement

5. Show the video and make several pauses to help students with comprehension.

6. Discuss with students how many different ways of bullying they know and they see in the video.

7. Invite students to work in pairs and play the video again for them to write 2 or 3 more lines and add them to the script.

8. Monitor the activity and help with grammar and vocabulary as needed.

9. Invite several pairs of students to read their lines and ask the rest of the class how different or similar those are. Is that effective communication?

10. Tell students they will read about how to write an effective PSA.

11. You can refer students to their textbooks and work with the examples given there on campaigns and community services so they can refresh their minds.

12. Invite students to write down the 5 basic steps shown in the article.

13. Decide if you want to show the paragraphs that explain each one of the steps or just comment on them.

14. Scroll down and show students a couple of examples, read them with them and work on vocabulary as needed.

15. Ask students to copy one of those PSAs and in pairs and find the 5 steps discussed earlier in that text.

16. As an extension activity, you can ask students to make a poster and present it to the class next session.

1. Have the beam projector ready to show the activities suggested in the “Materiales Educativos Digitales” section. You can make copies of the first activity, decide which is the best option for your class.

2. Ask students to tell you what possible community problems would need a PSA to help, or maybe a school situation the can help with.

3. Review what to have in mind when planning an effective  PSA.

4. Tell students this is a script of a PSA about social distancing and elicit from students how important this is.

5. Ask students to work in pairs and read the script.

6. Ask students to think about 2 or 3 more recommendation they can give people about protecting themselves from coronavirus, for example. It is ok if students use the same information they have been reading lately.

7. Monitor the activity and help with grammar and vocabulary as needed.

8. Invite students to exchange their papers with other 2 groups and compare them to theirs.

9. If time allows, ask students to pretend they have 35 seconds to read their PSA as the original one, a student reads and the other takes time.

10. In case they need more time, ask students to stay with 4 recommendations as in the original script as homework.

11. Ask students to write an announcement using the information in the script.

12. Invite students to read their announcements to the class and if time allows record them with your cellular phone.

13. Tell students ‘Do something’ is an organization that helps with different social projects and volunteering.

14. Review what volunteering is and what the benefits of it are.

15. Show the article and invite students to read about these members and the projects they are involved with.

16. Ask students to work in groups of 3 and discuss how they can raise money for the projects, what suggestions they can make, and how to carry out the plan.

17. Invite groups to share their ideas with the class.

2. Elicit from students how many different ways they remember of suggesting. Give students a context in order to identify the function easily, i.e., you’re planning a birthday party for a friend and everybody has different ideas. you may want to clarify the function with a couple of examples (in Spanish) if necessary.
