Desarrollo | 00:25 | 4. Tell students this is a British video. Try to take cultural advantage of the video when students notice this is not American English but British English. 5. Play the video and set the scene: a student who is learning the benefits of volunteering. 6. Invite students to watch the video and identify why these students would volunteer, why a senior citizen with an Ipad is in the video, etc. 7. Pause the video several times and provoke conversation and discussion. 8. Invite the class to give their opinion and write a paragraph in pairs: What are the benefits of volunteering? If students wrote at the beginning of the session the 2 or 3 benefits of volunteering, ask students to recycle that information but combining it with another partner’s list and present it to the class. |

Cierre | 00:15 | 9. Tell students this girl, Carmen, prepared a video to give students some recommendations on volunteering since she has volunteered some time. 10. Invite students to work in pairs and make a list of recommendations (3 at least) this girl gives. 11. It may be necessary you pause the video and make comments and /or paraphrase since the accent of the girl may not be as expected for your class. 12. Ask students to show the list of recommendations Carmen gave to another pair and compare their information. 13. Invite 2 pairs of students to read the class the recommendation they put together as a group and discuss it with the class. 14. You may also consider students record a short video reading the recommendations they wrote with a partner. If so, choose some volunteers, use your cellular phone and record them. Another recommendation is that you do this activity right after the video or consider it for a final evaluation of the period. |

Cierre | 00:15 | 10. Distribute the activity and read with students the paragraph about the origins of the Red Cross. 11. Tell students there are 24 words in this word search and ask them to try to find as many in 5 minutes, for example. 12.
