Desarrollo | 00:25 | 4. Ask students to listen carefully or read, the video has subtitles, so they can have two different types of channels to work on comprehension. 5. Write on the board the headlines: WHAT / WHO / WHEN / WHERE and tell students to focus on the events mentioned in the dialog which respond to the question words. That is, what the invitation is about, when and where it will take place, etc. as as many other contexts can fit these categories. 6. Play the video and make several pauses to help students write the information on the columns. Help with vocabulary as needed but do not comment on anything else until the video is finished. 7. Invite 4 students to come to the front and choose one of the WH_ columns. Then, ask them to write information they have. 8. Play the video again if necessary in case students missed part of the information. 9. Have a second round of students to complete the WH_ information since WHAT can have more pieces of information that WHEN, for example. 10. Check answers and talk about ‘the invitation’. |

Desarrollo | 00:25 | 2. If you project the activity, start with the mind map and read it with the students. 3. Tell students they need to use those same words in the next exercise which is ‘fill in the blanks’. 4. Monitor and offer help as necessary since students will need to make sense out of the words, that is, comprehension. 5. Check answers with the class. 6. The next exercise is a fun one, students need to use again the words in the mind map and read the pictures in the text. Invite the class to do it first silently and then, when they are ready, ask the whole class to read it aloud at the same time. |

Cierre | 00:15 | 7. This interactive worksheet has two pages. I suggest you work with “Pam’s birthday”which is a reading comprehension activity and can be given as a quiz. However, if you think the previous exercise would help your students review, project it before the reading. 8. Read the sentences 1-6 and make sure students understand them. It is a true-false activity. 9. Ask students to read silently the text or if you consider it is better you read them aloud for them and work with vocabulary, just make sure they are following the story. 10. Set a time limit for students to answer the questions in their notebooks and ask them to work in groups of three and check their answers. 11. Invite students to give you their answers and type it in the gap, then, continue with the birthday card activity. Click the ‘terminado’ button and see how they did. 12. Invite students to draw a birthday card, individually, for this birthday party. If some of the information is not in the text, invite students to be original and include it. |
