Ask students why people write or used to write letters and what they think about it. 4. Tell students they are going to watch a video that shows how to write a letter paying attention to 5 basic elements to include. |

Play the video and make pauses for students to draw and maybe write a short phrase to go with those pictures. 7. Invite students to show their notes and pictures with other students and compare them. 8. Play the video again but without sound and invite students to narrate and describe what letters are and the 5 basic elements it must include. 9. Ask students questions such as, what are the basic elements of a letter? How do you write the date? etc. |

Write them on the board. 11. Distribute the word search activity and ask students to compare the words they said to the ones in the word search. How many different ones did they see? 12. Set a time limit for students to do the activity and check answers with the class. 13. Invite some volunteers to say sentences using the words in the word search. |

Help with vocabulary as needed. 6. Continue with the next part of the video, review the letter format with students and pause the video to the question ‘How can you start your letter? for students to share their answers. 7. Compare students’ answers to the ones in the video and ask them to copy them as well in their notebooks. 8. Explain to students what ‘stating the purpose of the letter’ is and discuss the examples given in the video. 9. Show the last part of the video which is how to end the letter. 10. Invite volunteers to sum up the information given in the video and share it with the class. |
