1. Have the beam projector ready to show the ad suggested in the “Materiales Educativos Digitales” section, download the file and make copies for students for the second activity.

2. Ask students to work in pairs and review what the parts of a letter are.

3. Ask students what they would write about on the topic vacations to a friend and record some of those ideas on the board.

4. Tell students they are going to watch a video of somebody writing a letter. The video has no sound so they have to read. Make sure students can see the video from their seats.

5. Play the video and make pauses to ask questions such as what type of letter is this one? Who is writing to whom? Etc.

6. Read the letter along as the student is writing it.

7. Ask students to write a similar letter in pairs and offer help as needed.

8. Invite pairs to exchange their letters with other pairs.

9. Use one or two letters from volunteers and read them to the class, then, add more information, another paragraph asking students for suggestions and write them on the board.

10. Tell students they are going to read a letter and they need to identify who is writing to whom, why and when.

11. Distribute the worksheet and ask students to first, label the part of the letter and check answers with the class.

12. Ask students to read the letter and help with vocabulary if needed.

13. Discuss the answers to the questions and invite students to past this example in their notebooks.

14. Ask students to write a similar letter thanking the teacher, copying the same format but changing the information from ‘ Now I can________. And continue with ‘I can also write a letter____.’

7. Invite students to write their letters from them to you and ask the class to help with suggestions if necessary.

3. Ask students to have their notebooks ready to copy a letter they are going to see in the video.

4. Show the video and make a pause. You may also dictate the letter to students and help with listening comprehension and writing as well.

5. Ask students to read the letter in silence and ask them these questions, ‘Who is writing the letter? Who is Mrs.Genna?  When was the letter written? What are they talking about?

6. Invite students to use arrows in different colors to show the different parts of the letter.

7. Play the video for confirmation.

8. Write down on the board the words in the activity, comma, exclamation, hyphen, colon, period, quotation, etc. and write next to the words the marks for students to review and learn new ones.

9. Distribute the worksheet and ask students to search the words. Set a time limit.

10. When time is up, invite some volunteers to come to the board and write a sentence using the listed punctuation marks.

11. Ask the rest of the class to help with (gentle) correction.

12. Ask students not to look at their notes and say aloud the punctuation marks they remember.
