Desarrollo | 00:25 | 5. Play the video and make pauses between countries for you to comment on the tradition (s). You may also want not to use the sound of the video and narrate yourself the scenes. 6. Write on the board the names of the different countries mentioned and ask volunteers to name things they remember about the traditions. 7. Play the video again for confirmation and write on the board “Mexico” for students to now mention things related to our Christmas traditions. 8. Using the information on the board, ask students to talk about Mexico and chose another country to compare a tradition, “In Mexico we-----and/ but in X they ---.” |

Cierre | 00:15 | 9. Tell students they are going to work on a fun activity about Christmas. Decide if the activity can be done in groups of four or individually. 10. Distribute the worksheet and ask students to cut around each character, then cut the line across the character’s mouth. 11. Tell students to glue the two parts to the top and bottom tips of a wooden/plastic clothespin. 12. Show students hot to open and close the clothespin several times and adjust both paper parts so that the mouth meets at the right place. 13. Then, let the glue dry completely before using. 14.Ask students to write short dialogues for the characters and present them to the class. |

Desarrollo | 00:25 | 4. Tell students they are going to learn about how children from different parts of the world celebrate their birthdays and what they do as a tradition. 5. This first part of the video shows traditions from Argentina, China, Denmark, England, and India. Make several pauses to discuss with students about each country and help with vocabulary as needed. 6. Ask students to draw a visual organizer, a table, for them to record some information about the different birthday traditions. 7. Ask them to draw the flag of the country and then, write a few words (nouns and/verbs). 8.Invite students to work in pairs and compare their notes about other countries, did they choose the same or different? 9. Ask students to take turns and talk about the different countries they chose. Monitor and offer help to make sure they are working in English. |

Ask students to draw a second table and record information about the 5 more countries. Tell them to write the name of the country on top of each column and draw the flag as well. 12. Play the video and make pauses for students to discuss and comment the traditions. 13. Invite students to form groups of three and share their tables with information to compare and contrast it. 14. Ask students in their groups to add extra information to the column ‘Mexico’ 15. Ask two groups to get together and put all their information they got to make a poster about ‘Mexico’. 16. Students can start it in class and finish it next class. |
