1. Download the files suggested in MED and make copies for students.

2. Ask students to draw pictures in their notebooks for the words you are going to say,  CAT, BOOK, HAT, SUN, HOUSE, APPLE, DOG. Only the pictures not written words)

3. Ask students to show their pictures to other students and say the names of the objects.

4. Tell students they are going to read a nice story aloud that has some pictures for them to remember.

5. Distribute the worksheet and tell students they need to complete the words with the missing letters. The pictures can help them remember what the word is.

6. Start reading the story and let students complete the word and read it aloud.

7. Ask students to read the story aloud in the unison on your count,'1,2,3'.

8. Tell students they now can color the pictures.

9. Ask students what the rhyming words in the story are and circle them.

10.Distribute the worksheet and draw students' attention towards the words in the middle of the page. Drive students to notice that the words are missing a letter and they need to write them.

11. Point at the pictures on the right column and ask what they are. 

12. Ask students to read them twice. Or read the words first yourself for them to listen, then for them to repeat.

13. Point at the second column and ask students what those words are. Help with vocabulary as needed and repeat the words twice for them to notice the sounds.

14. Students write a rhyming word in the second column. Monitor and offer help as needed.

15. Ask students to read the words in pairs, taking turns.

1. Download the files suggested in the MED and make copies for students.

2.  Ask students to give you two pairs of rhyming words and two pairs of words that don't rhyme and write them on the board.

3. Tell students to read the pairs  following this pattern, RHYMING+RHYMING /NOT RHYMING + NOT RHYMING  / RHYMING + NOT RHYMING / RHYMING + NOT RHYMING

4. Distribute the worksheet and ask students to listen to you read the words.

5. Read loud and clear so students can repeat after you.

6. Tell students to find the words that don't rhyme. Encourage the students to read the words aloud so they can hear the sound at the same time they are identifying them.

7. Monitor and offer help as needed.

8. Ask students to work in pairs with the second activity where they need to write a new word that rhymes with the new word. For that purpose, read the words for students and encourage them to use their vocabulary or ask other classmates for new words.

9. Distribute the worksheet and ask students to underline DIDDLE, DIDDLE.

10. Ask students to repeat the line, three times and help with pronunciation. This is a popular rhyme for children to have fun with a silly poem. You may want to translate or paraphrase the poem into Spanish but the actual purpose of the activity is to practice pronunciation and rhyming words.

11. Read the poem for students and ask them to circle the words that rhyme.

12. Check students' answers and correct them necessary. Isolate the words and pronounce them again.

13. Invite students to read the poem in pairs aloud.

14. Ask students to trace the poem, then, copy it and write it on the same page.
