1. Have the beam projector ready to show the poem to students.

2. Ask students if they like cats and if they have one. If they do, ask them to compare to dogs.

3. Tell students they are going to read a poem about a cat so they need to pay close attention to talk about 'that cat' later in the lesson.

4.  Project the poem, read it for students, and help with vocabulary as needed.

5. Ask students to raise their right hand every time they hear the word 'cat'.

5. Ask students how many cats the poem talks about and mention some characteristics.

6. Invite the whole class to read aloud the poem with you and use a pointer or a ruler to show the lines you're reading. Then, ask students to work in pairs and read the poem. in a fun and different way, Student A reads the poem but doesn't read the word CAT. Student B  'meows' instead.

7. Ask students to draw a cat and name him/her to introduce to the class.

8. Tell students they are going to practice reading another poem but this time is not about an animal. 

9. Ask students if they keep something under their beds and what it is. Encourage students to tell you the reasons to do so.

10 Project the poem and ask students to copy it and to listen to you attentively because they need to circle all the objects or things they hear.

11. Invite students to compare their lists with other classmates and then. ask the whole class to tell you what 'objects or things' they 'found under the bed'. In case they missed some things, give the word and help with vocabulary as needed.

12. Read the poem again and ask students to repeat the verses after you.

13. Invite some volunteers to read the poem and clap every time they are going to mention a thing or object.

14. For homework, ask students to rewrite the poem and draw the pictures of the objects found under the bed.

1. Have the beam projector ready to show the poem "I have many pencils" suggested in the MED and download the file of the 'monkey poem to make copies for students.

2. Review 'colors' with students and school supplies by asking, "Who has a blue pencil / red backpack / yellow book / green book, etc? Make as many combinations as possible for students to notice the use of nouns + adjectives.

3. Tell students they are going to read a poem and talk about it.

4. Project the poem and ask students to listen to you read.

5. Read the color words louder for students to notice they are 'special' words.

6. Ask students to identify the color words in the text.

7. Ask students to copy the poem in their notebooks and read it aloud. Then, ask them if they noticed that some lines end in similar sound, not words.

8. Elicit from students what the rhyming words and circle them in red.

9. Ask the class to say the rhyming words aloud.

10. Read the next poem "I see" and ask students to raise their pink, red, and blue colors when they hear the names.

11. Invite some volunteers to read the poem aloud and have the class read the colors.

12. Tell students that now they are working with 'color' words and the actual color pencils, they are going to color a monkey. Wait for reactions.

13. Distribute the worksheet and ask students to describe the monkey.

14. Ask students to identify the rhyming words by circling them.

15. Read the poem again and read the rhyming words louder.

16. Ask students to color the monkey and read the poem with you one more time.
