1. Download and make photocopies of worksheet suggested in the “Materiales Educativos Digitales” section for each student and have them ready in advance.

2. Before starting the class, talk to students about the different habitats where animals live (Ocean, Desert, Forest, Arctic) and write the names of these habitats on the board.

3. Now, have students describe some of the characteristics of these habitats, talk about the weather, temperature, etc.

4. Give the photocopies away to each student and read the title out loud.

5. Focus students’ attention on the table and read the headings and titles in each row and column. Explain if necessary.

6. Next, focus students’ attention on the animals at the bottom of the page and have volunteers say their names.

7. Go back to the beginning of the page and read the instructions out loud. Make sure students understand what they have to do.

8. Have students color and then cut out the animals on the page. Give them some time to do this.

9. Once students cut out all the animals, ask them to paste them in their correspondent habitat. 

10. Next, elicit some of the characteristics of the habitats the animals live in and have them write these characteristics in the correct column. Check the vocabulary given.

11. Finally, ask students to work in pairs and describe their charts to each other. You can also have volunteers to share with the whole class.

4. Focus students’ attention on the shadows with the names of the farm animals at the bottom of the page and have volunteers read the names.

5. Then, have students match the shadows of the animals with their corresponding picture.

6. Ask students to write the names of the animals on the lines.

1. Have the video suggested in the “Materiales Educativos Digitales” section ready.

2. Prepare the beam projector to show students the video on the board.

3. Before starting the class and showing student the video, remind student about different characteristics used to describe animals. Write some of them on the board.

4. Project the video on the board using a beam projector for everyone to see it.

5. Play the video and have students look at the different steps to describe animals.

6. Pause it for every step and read it aloud. Double check the meaning of the words and phrases that are new to students and write them on the board.

7. Next, write on the board the different steps that are described on the video and elicit some of the words from students.

8. If students are hesitant, you can always return to the video to check the steps and vocabulary. If you think it is necessary, create a mind map.

9. Have students copy the characteristics and the steps to describe animals in their notebook.

10. Finally, ask students to choose  their favorite animal and write a description of it with the steps and vocabulary they learned.
