Inicio | 00:10 | Modal Verbs 1. Explain to the students that modal verbs are special verbs that behave irregularly in English and that they are different from normal verbs. They give additional information about the function of the main verb that follows it. They have a great variety of communicative functions. They are used to express functions such as permission, ability, obligation, prohibition, lack of necessity, advice and possibility. |

Desarrollo | 01:35 | 2. Project on a screen or white board in front of the class the page “Nivel básico: Modal verbs”. The link is on the “recursos” section. Have the students read it aloud, taking turns with paragraphs. Listen (more than once if it is necessary) and read outloud with the whole class the examples (for each verb) that are in the page. 3. Make a summary table showing the modal verbs, their uses and some examples (let the students give the examples, you just correct them if necessary). The students read out loud the introduction, taking turns to read one sentence at a time. Correct their mistakes. Ask the students if they have any questions about modal verbs. |

The teacher may ask the students to do Exercise 7 and the Final test on the page as homework. |
