Desarrollo | 00:35 | 3. Ask the Ss how many types of questions are there(open and closed). Ask the Ss whatthe difference is between each of those categories. Note: • Closed questions can simply require a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ answer, for example:‘Do you smoke?’, ‘Did you feed the cat?’, ‘Would you like a cup of tea?’ Closed questions can require that a choice is made from a list of possible options, for example: ‘Would you like beef, chicken or the vegetarian option?’ ‘Did you travel by train or car today?’ Closed questions can be asked to identify a certain piece of information, again with a limited set of answers, for example: “What is your name?”, “What time does the supermarket open?”, “Where did you go to university?” • Open questions allow for much longer responses and therefore potentially more creativity and information.There are lots of different types of open question, andsome are more closed than others. 4. Have the Ss ask a few questions or ask them yourself. Show the Sst the difference in the answers between the two types of questions. Ask the Ss if they know the correct structure of a question and what is the difference between a question and a statement. Tell the Ss that if there is an auxiliary (helping) verb (be, have, can, will, etc), we put it before the subject (he, she, I, etc): “Does she work here? ” Write on the board a statement and then transform it into a question. Once the Ss have understood the concept write some sentences and have the Ss transform them into questions on their notebook. 4.Organize the class in pairs. Have Ss solve the “Conversion Of Sentences (statemen to questions)” activity (link on the “recursos” section). Ssswitch roles duringtheactivity. |

Have one S pass to the front and pick up a flashcard at random, show it to the class and then ask a question using that word to another S. After the S answers, she/he passes to the front of the classroom, picks up a new flashcard and repeats the process with another S. Repeat this procedure until every student has participated. Help the Ss with the structure of the questions. 4. Then in pairs or individually, Ss play the game “Sentence Monkey”.Allow them to practice for 15 minutes. Walk around the room helping them when they get stuck or with vocabulary they don’t understand. |

Pass a member of each team to the front and place an item between them, project a question and the Ss that grabs the item first has an opportunity to answer the exercise.
