Desarrollo | 00:35 | Ask the Ss where they can find water on the Earth. Project on the screen or whiteboard the three images that are in the page "Water cycle - images" The link is in the "recursos" section. After looking at each image, have the Ss say a few sentences describing what they think the picture is about. Discuss with the whole class the significance of pictures and words in the diagram and the relation between them. 3. Project the "Water cycle game" on the screen and play it with the whole class. 4. Choose some of the "Nature flashcards" and some the "Weather flashcards" to make a Memory game with big cards (letter size cards). Print half of the cards with pictures and the other half with the names of the objects or events in the pictures. Paste the cards face down on the board with double sided tape. Divide the class into 3 to 4 teams and each team takes turns to guess at two cards. The team with more pairs wins the game. |

Desarrollo | 00:20 | . Show the third picture of the water cycle (The complete water cycle). Ask them what the first step in the cycle is. Allow them to participate and when they have given their answers ask them why they think that is the first step. Allow them to explain their reasons with simple sentences. After a few minutes of discussion tell the Ss that a cycle has no beginning nor and ending, and that they can see this in the diagram. 3. Project the video "The water cycle" on a screen. Show only the part of water storage. Ask them to tell some places where water is stored (natural or human-made). Ask the Ss to make a drawing of the places they mentioned and write a simple sentence. Paste all the drawings on the wall of the classroom. |

Desarrollo | 00:35 | Tell the Ss to look around their classroom, and write down everything they see (they need to use some vocabulary they have seen since first grade, but you can help them). Have each S read one or more of their items out loud -most of these will be nouns. Next, have the Ss organize these nouns into categories of "people, places, or things." Ex. Things: desk, chair, pencil, book, chalkboard, floor... People: teacher, Vero, Juan, ... Places: classroom, playground, Principal’s office... Explain to them that in English, like in Spanish, there are common nouns and proper nouns. Common nouns are the words given to a category of person, place or thing and don´t need a capital letter. Common names make sense with the article "the" in front. Proper nouns are nouns that name a certain place, like Mexico City, or a certain person, like Miguel Hidalgo. Proper nouns begin with a capital letter. Examples of Proper Nouns: Juana, José, Puebla, Mar Mediterráneo, Inglaterra, ... 3. In the media classroom, have the Ss work in pairs to solve the activities "Using capital letters in names: activity 1" (instruct the Ss to click on the green button to listen the pronunciation of the words) and "Special Nouns Exercise" (the links are in the "recursos" section) and share their ideas with the class. |
