Inicio 00:05 Say hello to the Ss. Ask them to sit down. Divide the class into teams of 3-4 Ss.

Desarrollo 00:35 Tell each team to choose a subject that interests them: favorite cartoon/toy/videogame/ activity/ sport, season of the year of birthdays in the class, etc. Once each team has chosen a subject (it is preferable that each team has a different subject), tell the Ss to think of 4-6 options the Ss can choose about that subject, like: • What do you prefer for breakfast: a) Scrambled eggs with ham b) Chilaquiles c) Chicken enchiladas d) Hot cakes • Who is your favorite character in Star Wars? a) Han Solo b) Princess Leia c) Luke Skywalker d) Darth Vader e) C3P0 Check all the questions of the Ss to verify they are correct and adequate for the activity. After each team has their questions, have them make their little survey to the rest of the class. Each team member interviews a member of the other teams. Walk around to check the interaction of the Ss. Tell the Ss to use tally marks to record the answers. If they don't know how to do it, teach them the skill. You may draw this table on the board: Tell the Ss they can make a table like this: Each S only records the answers to their own survey.

Cierre 00:10 Each team shares the information and writes it down in a format where they concentrate the answers of the whole team. Say goodbye to the Ss.

Evaluación Were the Ss able to choose a subject? • Were they able to formulate questions in a proper manner? • Were they able to answer questions successfully?

Inicio 00:05 Say hello to the Ss and ask them to sit down in teams. Ask them if they have found tally marks useful and why. Conclude with the ss that sometimes images are powerful sources of information.

Desarrollo 00:40 Give each team a “bar graph template with the number of Ss on the y axis and 4-6 divisions (depending on the number of options) on the x axis. You can print it before the session ” (link in the “recursos” section). Teach children how to count using tally marks. Ss count their answers. Tell the Ss to draw the bars with the data they have. A bar for each option. After all the teams have their charts paste them on the board and ask the Ss some questions. Have a class discussion of the results. Are they surprised with the results? 3. Ask the Ss to go to three other classrooms and make the survey (they will need tally mark tables to record the answers). Desarrollo 00:35 Tell the Ss to take their data tables and, in their groups, count the answers (counting using tally marks is easy and they will practice counting by fives). Once they have the answers sorted out and grouped give each team four sheets of paper (preferably squared). Ask the Ss to make 4 charts, one for each group they have surveyed. Tell the Ss to use colors to fill in the bars and to differentiate the options. Help the Ss as necessary and walk around inspecting the work of the Ss.

Cierre 00:10 Once every team finishes, they post their graphs on the bulletin board. Ask a few questions to the Ss about bar graphs.
