Desarrollo | 00:40 | 2. Refer back to the trip Ss are going to take in the airplane they colored last session. Now they need a passport. Have copies of passports printed and prepared. Link in the ““recursos”” column. Each S gets a copy. Explain each area of the passport which needs to be filled out. 10’ Ask Ss to take out the map they brought from home. 3. Show a map of the American continent to Ss and point at the area of North America and each one of the countries located there. T, there is a web page from Howell Township Public Schools, where you’ll find information about Central and South American countries. The map located on the page for El Salvador will work for the purpose of this session. Please note that the page is addressed to 5th graders however we’ll use the pictures for our 2nd grade class. You can show the page to your Ss or make a collage with the images in a separate document. There is a “Flag” link which for some reason takes you to the CIA page, yes, the Central Intelligence Agency. I suggest you don’t click there. I’ll include links for flags in other sessions. The page will be used as for other sessions as well. Write the name of the countries on the board and ask Ss to copy the names and write them on the appropriate place. 3. When finished, color each country. 10’ Do the same with the countries in Central America. 10’ Ss play a geography computer game. 10’ Link in the “recursos” column. |

Divide the group in teams and play a race game Where you say the name of a country and one S per team runs to the board to write the name of the country. The one who finishes first has a chance to spell aloud the name of the country he wrote on the board. If he spells it correctly his team gets a point. The team with the most points wins. 10’ 5. T, I’m including a site with a quiz on South America so you have an idea of what you can include when giving your Ss information about South America and quiz them on it or allowed them to solve the quiz themselves. That will depend on the skills and abilities they have. |
